For those of you not familiar with the traditions of writing names on your shoes, there are two popular ones.

The first is an old Turkish tradition.

This one involves writing the names of all of the single women in the shoe.  after the ceremony, check your shoes.  If the persons name has been wore off, they will be the next to be married.  This is similar to the idea of throwing your bouquet to the single women.

The second has its roots in the German heritage.

The story behind this is to write the names off all your wedding guests on the bottom of your shoe.  At the end of the evening if your name still on the shoe, you are going to have a year of good luck.
